Nature Center

Our last adventure in New Mexico was a stop at the Rio Grande Nature Center in Albuquerque. It is a beautiful park not very far from the airport. We were able to check out all sorts of interesting birds including a horned owl sitting on her nest with her chicks. Some birders let us look through their spotting scopes to get a better view that we captured with the camera. Amazing! What a great end to a fun trip.

Santa Fe in the Sun

One of the best parts of the trip was just taking in the sunshine!

New Friends

From the second we arrived at the park, Felix and Eleanor were making friends. Felix and his friends were trying to dig to the center of the earth. Eleanor taught her timid friend how to go down the slide. She was so convincing, she had her friend going down head first with her!

Lost Tooth

During the trip to Santa Fe, Felix "officially" lost his first tooth. (The difference between "officially" losing a tooth and "unofficially" losing a tooth is that this one came out from natural causes as opposed to the one that comes out when you run around with a blanket on your head and bump into things.)

Ojo Caliente

For our first day in New Mexico, we piled into the car and drove north to a great hot springs resort. Felix and Eleanor both loved swimming in the warm water (the 75°F pool was not very popular with our group). Felix can't wait to go back to school and tell everyone about his adventure!

There was some snow...

Way back in February, we had a little snow. Here in Portland, we have to make the most of what we get for the few minutes it's on the ground!
